Abstract

BRAVI, María Emilia et al. Método de encuesta para el análisis de las consultas recibidas por médicos veterinarios durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Analecta vet. [online]. 2023, vol.43, e075. ISSN 1514-2590.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.24215/15142590e075.

Coronavirus type 2 is the agent that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2) and produces the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which has spread rapidly throughout the world. Human-animal interface monitoring showed that some species are susceptible to infection by the virus. However, during the first year of the pandemic, the species affected, clinical signs, and the role of animals in transmission of the disease were unknown. In this work, a survey with a structured questionnaire aimed at veterinarians in Argentina was developed. Ninety-five surveys were received. Results demonstrate the need for updated information available to veterinarians regarding SARS-CoV-2 infection in dogs and cats. Furthermore, we highlight the importance of considering SARS-CoV-2 a differential diagnosis in animals that, while living with people who present compatible symptoms with COVID-19, have digestive and/or respiratory signs.

Keywords : SARS-CoV-2; animals; survey.
