In this essay we propose to reflect on the philosophical foundations of care, as this notion involves more than activities related to the maintenance and reproduction of life. Care, understood as a way of being in the world, implies understanding responsibility, understood as a response to the presence of the other who, a sensible experience, manifests on the one hand the vulnerability and fragility constitutive of every human being, but on the other hand expresses the authenticity of existence: we are beings-for-the- other.
