Abstract

SUBIETA ARACENA, Sandra Marlene  and  ROMERO SUBIETA, Mauricio Antonio. Contrasting land use transformations and their influence on the territorial sustainability of the Department of Potosí - Bolivia (1992-2016). Tecnol. cienc. [online]. 2023, n.48, pp.73-93.  Epub July 26, 2023. ISSN 1666-6933.  http://dx.doi.org/10.33414/rtyc.48.73-93.2023.

In recent years in the department of Potosí, with a territorial area of 118,217 km2, a significant pattern of changes in land use practices has been observed, which has caused a marked imbalance in the sustainable development of the different ecosystems.

Considering that the change in land use is a variable to dimension the territorial-environmental issue and its implication for decision-making in improving sustainable development, the information for Potosí available in the Land Use Plan (2000) was analyzed and Departmental Territorial Planning Plan (2016), to verify the transformations in land use and its influence on territorial sustainability, using the methodological approach Driving Forces - Pressures - State - Impacts - Response, with a vision integrated with the principle of cause-effect, resulting in the territorial extension and the relative low population density underestimating the impacts generated by the driving forces related to economic-population aspects.

Keywords : Transformation; Land use; Territorial sustainability..
