Abstract

DARGA HOLDORF, Ruben. Genesis of the journalistic press: between the Reformation and the Revolutions. Enfoques [online]. 2023, vol.35, n.1, pp.51-63. ISSN 1669-2721.

It is taught in Journalism schools that England and USA became references of the first newspaper and of the first university course in the press area, and that journalism results from the impulses of the Industrial, American and French Revolutions. There are those who dispute this, indicating other information about the history of print media and the higher education for journalists as facts close to the Protestant Reformation. This article resulted a bibliographic survey carried out in Jorge Pedro Sousa (2008) and Wilson Martins (1996), the historical video documentary “Inside the Court of Henry VIII” (2015), of Philos TV, and of the concepts about Engineering of Discourse Theory.

Keywords : Germany; Engineering of Discourse; Journalism; Press; Protestant reformation.
