Abstract

TRUJILLO, Oscar José. "Justicia mayor": the governors of Buenos Aires and the administration of justice in the seventeenth century. An approach from their Juicios de Residencia. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.2, pp.00-00. ISSN 1669-9041.

This paper aims to analyze certain aspects of the administration of justice by the Governors of the Rio de la Plata in the early colonial period, especially imaginary circulating around the exercise of that function and its specific performance, reflected in their Juicios de Residencia. These officials took a government commission that in addition to the proper administration of the government, included military, tax and judicial matters. It was precisely the administration of justice the most important of these functions, as highlighted in the "juicios de residencia" that were submitted at the end of its mandate.
