Abstract

PARSELIS, Martín. The Value Of Endearing Technologies. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2016, vol.11, n.32, pp.71-83. ISSN 1850-0013.

We live next to unknown technologies. Our interpretations and mental and social representations of these technologies seldom match what they really are. The technological alienation thesis has reached a considerable impact in the field of STS and critical tradition has been very important in its justification. However, when we attempt to find a way of avoiding technological alienation we find that the most common paths become imperatives that are as hard as the technocratic ones. In this work we will attempt to approach the "endearing technologies" as a way out of the alienation in a more democratic and rational manner, but above all as a way out that is in keeping with our times.

Keywords : Technology; Alienation; Endearing technologies; Commons.
