Abstract

SALAZAR MARTINEZ, Ana; ACCATOLI, Cecilia; MARTINEZ, Pablo Antonio  and  SCHNACK, Juan Alberto. Diversity of oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida) from «Paseo del bosque», La Plata (Buenos Aires Province, Argentina). Cienc. suelo [online]. 2010, vol.28, n.2, pp.181-190. ISSN 1850-2067.

Oribatid assemblages from two sites differing in their degree of disturbance by human intervention were compared during an annual cycle. Sampling was carried out at monthly intervals and individuals were extracted using Berlese funnels. Annual average density in the less disturbed location (site 1) was significantly higher than that observed in the site exhibiting high perturbation as a result of human intervention at «Paseo del Bosque» (site 2). Species composition, richness and diversity did not differ significantly between the sampled sites. Site 2 showed lower overall density than site 1.

Keywords : Urban woodlands; Human intervention; Oribatids; Diversity.
