This text explores social relationships between humans and non humans among the Makuna, an Eastern Tukanoan group from Northwest Amazon. From the local concept üsi wasoare (loan of vitality) I analyze shamanic exchanges related to the group productive practices, and demonstrate how life generation results from human labor, guided by an ethical principle that prevents the destruction of non humans.
