Abstract

CALANDRON, Sabrina  and  GALAR, Santiago. El morir como bien patrimonial en las fuerzas de seguridad en Argentina. Avá [online]. 2017, n.30, pp.137-158. ISSN 1851-1694.

This article analyzes the die in the security forces in contemporary Argentina. The ethnographic analysis starts with funerals, graves, tributes and reminders following two tragic events that included collective deaths: one of them carried out by members of the Fire Department of the Federal Police of Argentina and another that involved members of the National Gendarmerie. Death, in these contexts, is much more than an identity or institutional mark, a drawback or an eventuality. Death is a patrimonializable object that is valued, is associated with spiritual powers and allows forms of enunciation of the profession for those who are still alive. The bonds of solidarity, the commitment to the protection of society and the exceptionality trace the path that unites the senses of death with those of life in these particular professions.

Keywords : Dead; Security Forces; Patrimony; Funeral.
