Abstract

SANTANA COLIN, Yasmani. Formación académica y militancia de los intelectuales indígenas mexicanos. Avá [online]. 2018, n.33, pp.79-102. ISSN 1851-1694.

The present article reflects on the antecedents and the transformations of the political militancy of indigenous intellectuals who became professionals through university studies in different disciplines. Wedefine the category of “indigenous intellectual” through different interviews with male and female intellectuals who have high degrees of academic training, mostly PhDs and a few with a master’s degrees. A brief analysis of the university spaces that have arisen over the last decades in order to form indigenous intellectuals is then presented, these spaces emanating from the indigenosu communities themsleves and also from the Mexican State.

Keywords : Indigenous Intellectuals; Political Militancy; Academic Formation; Universities.
