Abstract

HERNANDEZ-CAMPILLO, Thais Raquel; VERANES GALVEZ, Lisandra  and  ARIAS HIDALGO, Ania Beatriz. La Alfabetización Informacional en las carreras pedagógicas cubanas. Inf. cult. soc. [online]. 2023, n.49, pp.9-33. ISSN 1514-8327.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.34096/ics.i49.12665.

The study discusses the relevance of information literacy in higher education, based on Area 1 of the European Framework of Digital Competences for Citizenship. In this sense, an information literacy program is proposed for the acquisition of informational competencies of students of pedagogical careers at the University of Camagüey. The research assumes the mixed research approach and non-participant observation as the empirical method. Concerning the research techniques, there is a survey for students and an interview with academic directors to investigate the current state of information literacy in the students, from the determination of their information competencies to the analysis of the contents of the subjects and the learning activities. The results of the diagnosis show insufficiencies in the search, evaluation, and management of digital information. Thus, the program developed contains a set of actions focused on the treatment of digital information for teaching activities to improve the information literacy of the subjects investigated. It is concluded that information literacy should have an important place in the academic performance of students and be subject to continuous evaluation.
