Abstract

TONATTO, Javier et al. Associative experience for bioenergy commercial production: sweet sorghum and sugar cane as complementary crops in Tucumán, Argentina. Rev. ind. agric. Tucumán [online]. 2019, vol.96, n.1, pp.17-24. ISSN 1851-3018.

In order to contribute to the diversification of the energy matrix from Argentina and to make sound contributions to sustainability, a public-private partnership carried out a project which main objective was to achieve commercial scale production of bioethanol and bioelectricity from sweet sorghum as a complementary energy crop of sugarcane in Tucumán (Argentina). The obtained results, both in the agricultural and industrial phases, demonstrated the suitability of this crop for the production of renewable energy (ethanol and electric energy) as well as its complementary nature with the traditional sugar industry.

Keywords : energy crop; ethanol; complementary crop.
