Abstract
HUMBERTO ABELEDO, Sebastián. Grazing, mining and state transfers in Santa Rosa de los Pastos Grandes (Puna de Salta, Argentina). Runa [online]. 2017, vol.38, n.1, pp.23-40. ISSN 1851-9628.
This paper analyzes the main economic activities of the inhabitants of Santa Rosa de los Pastos Grandes (Puna de Salta, Argentina) in the face of the impact of transformations associated with expansion of the market economy and the influence of the State. In this village people develop a family type of livestock breeding accompanied by other strategies that have shaped an economy with mixed characteristics. From our ethnographic research we were able to determine that the most important economic diversification activities that this society deploys are aimed at achieving mainly monetary benefits. Through the analysis of the degrees of specialization or diversification that make up the pluriactive logics, we recognize that the labor organization of many families went from revolving around pastoralism to focusing on wage labor, modifying the perception of the relationship between different types of activities.
