Abstract

RAICES, Eduardo. El nacionalismo católico contra la prensa progresista en los años de Alfonsín. La edición monográfica de la revista Cabildo sobre el semanario político El Periodista de Buenos Aires (1986). Sociohistórica [online]. 2023, n.51, e186. ISSN 1852-1606.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.24215/18521606e186.

This essay analyzes the special edition of Catholic Nationalist magazine Cabildo, dedicated to evaluate the weekly political magazine El Periodista de Buenos Aires, issued in 1986. It is conceived to study the way in which Integrist Right-Wing groups read the press originated in the post-dictatorial context. To achieve this goal, there were considered the contents and argumentative style of the publication. A qualitative approach is favored, through sources analysis (written and graphic texts) and the use of historical, sociological and semiothical literature. Conclusions point out the Cabildo conspirativist hermeneuthics and its assumed intelectual-politic role to denounce an adversary linked to a Secular, Liberal and Socialist view that covered up the Jewish world dominion aspirations. They also underline the way El Periodista characterized its discursive rival and answered to its challenge by means of a “a controversy without interlocution”.

Keywords : Political press; Right-Wing thought; Liberalism; Democracy.
