Abstract

DIEGUES, Jorge Alberto. The Antonio Bermejo's Supreme Court presidency. Rev. hist. derecho [online]. 2019, n.57, pp.1-28. ISSN 1853-1784.

The purpose of this investigation is to contribute to the knowledge of a period of the Supreme Court’s history, very little explored up until the present, such as the so-called “Bermejo’s Court” which, led by judge Antonio Bermejo, to whom it owes its name, had its sphere of action between 1903-1930. For this end, a study of the personal, biographical and professional aspects of the chief justice is undertaken, considered essential to contextualize the period due to the influence exerted by this magistrate on the jurisprudence of this era. It also provides data relating tothe daily work of the Court

of the time, so far never known by the academic community. Finally, the research is completed with a necessary study of the main jurisprudential lines produced by the Supreme Court in that period.

Keywords : Supreme Court; Chief justice; Supreme Court’s history; Antonio Bermejo.
