At the beginning of the nineteenth century English and Scottish merchants arrived at Buenos Aires. The following decade more British subjects arrived, attracted by migratory projects, economic prosperity and the opening of new markets for their industrial products. They were mostly Anglicans and Presbyterians. They arrived with their economic activities and protestant faith. As a consequence the new government had to answer to the problem that this religious diversity arouse. At the same time, the foreigners had to organize themselves in order to build up spaces to profess there dissident religion. In the present article we will analyze the Anglican and Presbyterian Churches and their efforts to organize themselves and build an element of union between the British in Buenos Aires as an ethnicity refugee. We will also study the presence of Protestantism in the Rio de la Plata.
