Abstract

COSSO, Pablo. Sacralizations of the dead in the city of Salta: Natalia Loza and  "The Tomb of the Missionary Fathers". Soc. relig. [online]. 2018, vol.28, n.49, pp.13-48. ISSN 1853-7081.

It is proposed to study the phenomenon of the sacralization of the dead in the city of Salta, from two cases linked to Catholicism, in its less formal instances. These sacralizations are described as arising in "interstitial spaces", exposing, thereby, their formative empirical dimension (procesual, historical and ethnographic) and the currents of legitimacy that support them. The proposed analysis will focus on the different religious agencies involved in their sacralization processes: "religious movements" (Catholic Charismatic Renewal), traditions of sanctification of religious orders and congregations (Jesuits and Salesians) and the agency of those people who decide, spontaneously, to worship the "miraculous dead". In addition, the following ideas and concepts will be emphasized: the (reciprocal) agencies of the living and the dead, practices and memories of sacralization and the political-religious linkage underlying these cults.

Keywords : Religious Agency; Interstitial Spaces; "Miraculous Dead"; Practices and Memories of Sacralization.
