Abstract
LIU, Yi. Healing, Family and Meaning: A Life History of Christians in Anhui, China. Soc. relig. [online]. 2018, vol.28, n.50, pp.183-198. ISSN 1853-7081.
This is a case study based on field work in Anhui, China. The author wants to explore how Christian faith functions in the everyday life of common believers, through the lens of prayer and healing, gender and family, as well as community and meaning. A core concept is empowerment. It has political implications, but not necessarily politics in conventional sense. It is due to the distinctive ideology, exclusive identity, and transcendental vision of Christian groups. The paradox is: the more they claim to be apolitical, the more they are considered political in an unfriendly context.
Keywords : Healing; Family; Meaning; Christianity; China.
