Abstract

GIOP, Marcos. Spiritual tourism and New Age practices: a proposal for a cultural geography approach. Soc. relig. [online]. 2022, vol.32, n.60, pp.4-4. ISSN 0326-9795.

This article proposes to carry out a theoretical journey on the scientific productions framed and linked to tourism and New Age practices from the disciplinary field of geography. Research of this type has shown a matrix attached to focusing on the description of spaces, their distribution and the flows of people and capital, however, from the last decades new interpretations have been emerging. In this way, through a perspective that seeks to move away from more traditional approaches, it seeks to generate an approach proposal through the prism of cultural geography. From this approach, on the one hand, tourism is understood as the unfinished result of a complex network of social and cultural processes where a large number of subjects, processes and symbols usually operate. On the other hand, it seeks to work with concepts of the sacred that are not so attached to classical study structures, which allow entering the universe of the spiritual and the New Age.
