Abstract

BEDIN, Paula. Feminist criticisms and dilemmas concerning the androcentric universalism of the classical liberal citizenship. Temas debates (En línea) [online]. 2013, n.26, pp.127-143. ISSN 1853-984X.

In the present paper we focus on the feminist questionings to the universalism included in the conception of citizenship proposed by liberalism. After that, we briefly go over the critiques to citizenship raised by enlightened feminists and then the equality feminists and difference feminist. On this base we address the crisis point at which feminism is, by making use of the "Wollstonecraft dilemma" elaborated by Carole Pateman. We mention the Feminist currents that, since the 80s, have been questioning the concepts of patriarchy and of woman elaborated by white, heterosexual, "first-world" feminists. Finally, we conclude by asking if these conceptions have impacted on Latin American Feminist movement.

Keywords : Universalism; Citizenship; Feminist movement.
