Abstract

SILI, Marcelo. International cooperation in agricultural and rural issues: Recent Experience in Argentina. Temas debates (En línea) [online]. 2014, n.27, pp.49-73. ISSN 1853-984X.

The international cooperation in agricultural and rural subjects had an important role in Argentina, as the experiences in these topics helped to improve the impacts of the new cooperation projets in the region. In this regard, we have to highlight three key issues: a) the cooperation in agricultural and rural topics is extremely specific, as the agents have to provide to an integral approach of the problems affecting the country, appealing to innovative solutions, adapted to local contexts; b) the cooperation projects are learning spaces shared by many actors; c) cooperation between Latinamerican countries is a prime source of information to improve cooperation experiences. All these questions have place in a context of a changing cooperation logic, going from a cooperation model tending to make up for the market failures, to a model aimed to strengthen the agents to deal with the operating conditions of the current markets and institutions.

Keywords : International cooperation; Rural development; Argentina; Institutional strengthening.
