Abstract

RUBIOLO, María Florencia. The role of emerging economies in the 21st century: India in Latin America and its relation with Argentina. Temas debates (En línea) [online]. 2014, n.27, pp.101-121. ISSN 1853-984X.

In this paper we seek to carry out a diagnosis of the links between India and Argentina in the context of the strategy of approach of the Asian country towards the Latin American region. The focus will be set on the political-diplomatic and trade aspects and in the challenges and potentialities that the emergence of this new actor can present to Argentina. First, it will be analyzed India's actions in Latin America; then the characteristics of the bilateral relations, with special emphasis on Argentina´s foreign policy towards India; and an introduction to the main characteristics of trade relations, analyzing its implications to Argentina. We arrive to the conclusion that, two of Argentina´s main challenges are to diversify its export offer and to set technological and energetic cooperation schemes.

Keywords : India; Argentina; Look East Policy; Diversification.
