Abstract

KAIPL, Esteban. Political Theory and Risk in the context of the Covid-19 Pandemic: The Explanatory Contribution of Social Differentiation. Temas debates (En línea) [online]. 2020, n.40, suppl.1, pp.89-97. ISSN 1853-984X.

The coronavirus crisis has produced a process characterized by numerous emergences. First, in the academic field, we would like to mention that many thinkers were compelled to formulate hypotheses that were discredited and revised as the months were going by. Secondly, in the same field, this crisis exposed the acceleration of various phenomena that have to do with the explanatory value of concepts, such as risk, uncertainty, contingence, the unavoidable urgent decisions and the functional differentiation of society. This paper brings explicitly to light those elements coming from political sociology, to answer some classic questions of political theory that regain importance in periods of crisis.

Keywords : Complexity; Social differentiation; Risk.
