Abstract

IGLESIAS, Esteban. Unionist Responses in Opposition to Neoliberalism: Argentina and the Politicization of the Late 20th Century. Temas debates (En línea) [online]. 2023, n.45, suppl.1, pp.103-111. ISSN 1853-984X.

The present work analyzes two labor unions that were constituted in the democratic Argentina during the 1990s: the Argentine Workers’ Confederation (CTA, for its acronym in Spanish) and the Argentine Workers’ Movement (MTA, for its acronym in Spanish). Unlike the labor union of the party in power (the CGT), they opposed to State initiatives grounded in neoliberal principles. This work presents the political processes involved in the constitution of the labor unions as well as the nature of their contentious action, emphasizing the political culture that they enclosed.

Keywords : unions; social protest; neoliberalism.
