Abstract

BAUMAN BERTTI, Caroline Vanessa; NEVES SILVEIRA, Alexsandro; GUERRA DYTZ, Aline  and  ARASHIRO, Everaldo. Proposal of an experiment for radioactive half-life comprehension using physical and virtual polyhedral. Rev. enseñ. fís. [online]. 2023, vol.35, n.1, pp.109-118. ISSN 0326-7091.  http://dx.doi.org/10.55767/2451.6007.v35.n1.41394.

This work was applied in order to demonstrate the radioactive half-life in the radioactive decay process, in a playful and relaxed way with the use of polyhedra, covering topics of Modern Physics in High School. Applied in a school in the city of Rio Grande - RS, Brazil, in a hybrid teaching system, with one in-person class and another remote, with 14 and 12 students, respectively. Simulations of radioactive decay curves were simultaneously conducted using physical polyhedra with the in-person class and virtual polyhedra with the online class, through a mobile app. As a result of the procedure, a highly productive interaction among the students was observed, unexpected for hybrid classes. The students reported that after the experiment, the exponential behavior became contextualized due to the simulation of radioactive decay, which motivated them to research more about radioactivity.
