Abstract

This paperwork is part of a cooperation project developed between institutions of Brazil and Argentina. We will discuss some aspects of the history of Brazilian children (the object of study and previous research) and Argentina’s childhood (approximations of recent bibliography). The reflection permeates social organization and historical of child care institutions, using the theoretical contributions of the two countries, in addition to the contributions of Norbert Elias, to understand the formation of the 'civilized' individual since childhood. Initially we will present bibliographic studies on the subject in order to interject elements of children history of education in educational institutions, pointing out possible continuities, ruptures, similarities and differences of this historical process. We emphasize that this is not an investigation of comparative history, or a "state of the art" in depth, but an initial survey in an attempt to understand the subject in the refereed countries. In conclusion, this research constitutes an important background to the history of education and has given visibility to the research on education of children in Latin America.
