Abstract

AGUIRRE, Laura. Imaginary spaces and regional literature. A reading of Bajo este sol tremendo (2009) by Carlos Busqued. CELEHIS [online]. 2021, n.42, pp.61-70. ISSN 2313-9463.

In Bajo este sol tremendo, the landscape of the town, Lapachito, is more than a stage where the events take place: it is a central figure that enhances the horrifying portrait of characters submerged in apathy. The vital force that emerges from the imaginary town transforms Lapachito into a more real place than the one we could get to know by visiting the town that bears the same name. How does form an image of Chaco that is strange and real at the same time? In what way, with what strategies, it´s the relationship between literature and space articulated?

The proposal of this work consists of characterizing and analyzing the figurations of the Chaco territory that appear in the novel Bajo este sol tremendo by Carlos Busqued, based on some critical interventions that define the concept of "region" and ponder the relationships between space and artistic production.

Keywords : Argentine literature; region; spatial subjectivation; territory; landscape.
