In this work I try to analyze the forms of representation of crime and violence in two unique texts: La ciudad de los locos, by Juan Josè de Soiza Reilly and Los siete locos, by Roberto Arlt. Material conditions of cultural production and consumption promote the use of aesthetic procedures as well as the adoption of discursive genres around the notions of "madness" and crime in a city that is in the process of growth and transformation.
