Abstract

Manuel de Salas and Camilo Henríquez were two outstanding players in the revolutionary process initiated in 1810 in his native Chile. Faced with the leaderless the throne both supported the triumphant juntista solution in most American regions that made up the Spanish Empire. However, while the first, no doubt his commitment to Fernando VII was the enemy of abrupt changes and favored a moderated policy reform, trying to maintain public order, the latter championed the most radical considering that the situation should be seized to finally break ties with the metropolis.
