In this article, I analyze the Agreement between the University of Chile and the University of California from a historical and structural perspective that observe academics and scientific facts that conflux in his conformation and also I observe elements that refers the relations between United States and Chile during the Cold War, the strategic roll that played the US technical assistance since the end of World War II, the symbolic importance of Chile in the context of the Alliance for Progress and the articulation with the hemispheric politics of Ford Foundation. All this elements conflux in a complex manner and contribute with the process of academic development of the University of Chile.
