Abstract

PEGORARO, Vctor. Survival, adapting and crisis of family firms: Construction industry in Mar del Plata, Argentina (1950-1990). Travesía (San Miguel de Tucumán) [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.1, pp.95-127. ISSN 2314-2707.

The article analyzes the nature of companies in the private construction sector of Mar del Plata during the second half of the 20th century. It focuses on family capitalism as an engine of development, a unifier of experiences and as the most important accumulation pattern that marked the identity of ventures. This is key to understand social and economic relationships within the market, individual strategies, possibilities of transformation and limits to growth. The study aims to contribute to concerns about small and medium sized enterprises (SME) family businesses in Argentine.

Keywords : Family firms; Construction industry; SMEs; Argentine.
