Abstract

VILA SEOANE, Maximiliano Facundo  and  GIL, Luciana. Enseñanza de Relaciones Internacionales: Reflexiones sobre una experiencia con series de ficción en Argentina. Relac. int. [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.64, pp.149-169. ISSN 2314-2766.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.24215/23142766e167.

This article details an experience carried out in an introductory course to International Relations course taught at an Argentine university, where fiction TV shows were incorporated as a pedagogical instrument complementary to academic readings. The analysis is based on the work done with the TV shows throughout the course and on the results of two student surveys, which motivated the teachers' reflection about the experience. The results suggest that fiction TV shows are as useful as complementary material for an introductory course on International Relations. However, its incorporation is not without its challenges, such as the extra time they demand, the difficulty of linking audiovisual and written content, and the risk of reproducing the biases present in foreign TV shows.

Keywords : Teaching International Relations; popular culture; fiction TV shows; biases.
