In this article I will make a comparison between the way in which the local features are reconstructed in the Relación de Texcoco and the Descripción de la ciudad y provincia de Tlaxcala, texts written at the end of the 16th century. I am interested in identifying how, given the demand for information required by the Instrucción y Memoria on issues such as the location and situation of Texcoco y Tlaxcala, the characteristics and behavior of their rulers, their rites and manners, their appearance, the diseases suffered, among others, aforementioned New Spanish texts are shown as the best cultural tool to represent their own.
