Abstract

KOSTADINOFF, J. et al. Geophysics of the Mina Salamanca ultramafic body, Province of Mendoza. Rev. Asoc. Geol. Argent. [online]. 2004, vol.59, n.1, pp.113-120. ISSN 0004-4822.

The Mendoza Cordillera Frontal mafic- ultramafic belt is considered as a dismembered ophiolite. The presence of talc, polymetallic sulphides and platinum group elements (PGE) in the serpentinised ultramafic body make this area an interesting target for geophysical prospecting. Gravimetric and magnetometric measurements, made on a network of stations covering the whole Salamanca mine area, enable us to evaluate talc reserves and calibrate a model for polymetallic suphides surveys along the entire Cordillera Frontal mafic-ultramafic belt.

Keywords : Geophysics; Prospection; Ultramafic rocks; Mineralizations; Frontal Cordillera.
