Abstract
MORELLO, Orquídea and APARICIO GONZALEZ, Pamela. Mineralización de uranio en la Sierra de Velasco, La Rioja. Rev. Asoc. Geol. Argent. [online]. 2013, vol.70, n.3, pp.335-340. ISSN 0004-4822.
This contribution describes an uranium mineralization found in the Sierra de Velasco, La Rioja Province, Northwest of Argentina. In the study area crop out granites, pegmatites and metamorphic rocks. The host rocks of the mineralization are the La Chinchilla Granite (Carboniferous) and the La Cébila metamorphic Complex (Precambrian-Ordovician). The mineralization is perigranitic and occurs disseminated, in fractures and in the contact between the granite and the metamorphic rocks. In the La Chinchilla Granite was identified a U-Nb-Ta oxide, and in the metamorphic rocks U-silicates (uranophane, uranophane-beta), U-phosphates (phurcalite and meta-autunite) and uranium oxides (pitchblende and coffinite) were found.
