Within the framework of a study on the diversity of agaricoid fungi from the Argentinian Atlantic Forest, specimens were collected which correspond morphologically and phylogenetically with Marasmius magnus, a recently described species from Brazil. The aim of this work is to register, describe and illustrate M. magnus based on specimens collected in Misiones. This species is characterized by its large basidiomata that can exceed 100 mm in diameter, the coloration of the pileus, reddish brown towards the center, with orange tones towards the margin, ending in a whitish marginal line, its oblong to sub-cylindrical basidiospores, relatively short, and distant lamellae with fertile elements at the edge, without cheilocystidia.
