The diversity of birds in our country has been catalogued on various occasions throughout history. In this article I comment on some of the most relevant works in the literature and analyze how technology and new practices modified the methods of communicating information in the new millennium. Finally, I present briefly some preliminary results of a new annotated checklist with the aim of summarizing the discoveries and research that occurred in the last 20 years.
