Abstract

CHIALE, María Cecilia; PAGANO, Luis  and  IMBERTI, Santiago. REPRODUCTIVE STATUS OF THE CHILEAN FLAMINGO (PHOENICOPTERUS CHILENSIS) IN SOUTHERN PART OF ITS DISTRIBUTION: IMPLICATIONS FOR ITS CONSERVATION. Hornero [online]. 2021, vol.36, n.2, pp.140-149. ISSN 0073-3407.

In Argentina, the Chilean Fla-mingo (Phoenicopterus chilensis) breeds from Santa Cruz up to Jujuy province, in the north. We recorded new breeding sites for the species in Buenos Aires and in Santa Cruz provinces. We also provide information about numbers of individuals in those colonies, and we evaluate the potential threats they are facing there. These records are highly important because they contribute to the knowledge of the Chilean Flamingo’s status in Argentina.

Keywords : breeding colony; Buenos Aires; Phoenicopterus chilensis; Santa Cruz.
