Abstract

BONADEO, Miriam A. et al. Evaluación del grado de satisfacción del personal médico en un hospital de pediatría. Arch. argent. pediatr. [online]. 2005, vol.103, n.6, pp.491-496. ISSN 0325-0075.

The great challenge for a health organization is to find the way to satisfy the needs of others, in our case, the physicians needs. It must be considered that job satisfaction has not been studied in depth among health workers. Objectives. To describe the degree of satisfaction in a group of physicians from the Pedro de Elizalde Children Hospital in order to elaborate proposals tending to optimize the quality of care. Population, material and methods. 70 enquiries were made to staff physicians with 10 or more years working at the Pedro de Elizalde Children Hospital. Heads of departments were not included. Data were loaded in an Excel sheet. A descriptive, transversal and observational methodologic design was used. Results. 50% of the questions had satisfactory answers, 15% intermediate answers and 35% answered "not at all". These were related with low income, inadequate physical environment, high demands from the patients, lack of research, and no participation in the decisions about the department where they worked. Conclusion. Even knowing that 50% of the enquired professionals expressed satisfaction, we should improve the actions on those items that generated more conflict.

Keywords : Professional satisfaction; Enquires; Quality in medical care.
