Abstract

GONZALEZ MADARIAGA, Yisel et al. Metabolic syndrome in Wistar rats induce by sucrose rich -diet. Acta bioquím. clín. latinoam. [online]. 2015, vol.49, n.3, pp.301-309. ISSN 0325-2957.

Development of metabolic syndrome in Wistar rats of both sexes recently weaned was achieved after the application of a 35% sucrose solution during 18 weeks. The following parameters: fasting glucose, TAG, VLDL, cHDL, cholesterol, total proteins, albumin, globulins, leukocytes, platelets, hemoglobin, insulin, remnant â cells, creatinine, uric acid and transaminases were determined. Corporal weightand abdominal diameter were recorded weekly, and postmortem visceral fat was determined. The animals developed a first phase of metabolic syndrome, characterized by hyperglucemia and moderate hyperlipidemia, with an increase in insulin resistance. Male rats had bigger gain of corporal weight and central obesity. Higherglycemia, triglyceridemia, insulin resistance and a smaller quantity of remnant â cells were observed in the males in comparison with their control. An increase in GPT and plasmatic albuminwas observed only in males with HSD.
