Abstract

Cancer continues to be a health problem of relevant importance. In Argentina (year 2020), 130 878 cases were registered, 12.1% corresponding to colorectal cancer, 3.1% to stomach cancer and 1.5% to esophageal cancer. Malnutrition is one of the most frequent complications in cancer patients. Appropriate nutritional intervention is capable of preventing the complications of malnutrition, improving both quality of life and the onset, tolerance and response to treatment, and shortening hospital stay. The objective was to obtain a nutritional profile that enables the design and implementation of a nutritional rehabilitation therapy that adapts to the specific needs of the adult individual with recently diagnosed digestive tract cancer, through clinical examination and anthropometric and biochemical parameters. The results show that the periodic control will make it possible for nutritional support to be personalised, adjusted to the nutrients need at the time of diagnosis and effective
