This article implies an exhaustive and systematic analysis of the armed actions carried out by the ‘Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias’, an Argentinian political-military organization which was active during the early 1970. We analyze the armed operations and examine their most important features. Thanks to such analysis, we are able to conclude that the FAR can be considered as one of the three main revolutionary armed orgnanizations during this period. Aditionally, and considering the specificity of military operations, we propose a categorization which allow us to identify fifteen types and ten different subtypes of them. The proposed typology could help -in an effective way- to fill a significant vacuum in the specialized bibliography, considering its extensibility to the examination of other organizations or the whole practice of armed struggle. In order to accomplish the task, we based our research on: FAR´s documents, militant press, commercial press and intelligence reports from the police.
