Abstract

HERNANDEZ APARICIO, Nicolás. IAN RUTLEDGE IN JUJUY: THE PATH OF A MARXIST IN THE PROVINCIAL HISTORIOGRAPHY OF THE SEVENTIES. Folia [online]. 2021, n.41, pp.133-154. ISSN 0325-8238.  http://dx.doi.org/10.30972/fhn.0415162.

The following article attempts to make a historiographic balance and criticism of a pioneering work about Jujuy's historiography: The development of capitalism in Jujuy, 1550 - 1960 by Ian Rutledge. In 1973 Rutledge's book was defended as a doctoral dissertation but in 1987 was edited in Spanish and marked a defining moment in the history of Jujuy since it approached topics of coral importance such as the sugar agroindustry and capitalism's development. The article's aim is to get the readers into the author's design of knowledge within the different points of view of the time and the subsequent criticism1.

Keywords : Historiography; Marxism; Jujuy.
