Abstract

CASTILLA, Malena Inés. "IT NEVER RAINS HERE AND IN THE FIELD NEXT DOOR IT RAINS EVERY DAY": A DESCRIPTION ON THE USE OF AND ACCESS TO LAND AND WATER IN CHACO. Folia [online]. 2021, n.41, pp.155-194. ISSN 0325-8238.  http://dx.doi.org/10.30972/fhn.0414528.

This article proposes to analyze the scenario in which land and jointly- held assets, such as water, are accessed, used and distributed, in the province of Chaco. Our aim is to reconstruct the advance of the extractive frontier in the province, in general, and in Pampa del Indio, in particular. In this manner, the productive model implemented in the area generated great social and environmental transformations, as a result of anthropic actions and the implementation of infrastructure projects. Floods, droughts, and pollution, are some of the disasters that we will describe in this work. These consequences, far from being caused by nature, are the result of actions implemented by the agro-business community in conjunction with governmental and international organizations, and are detrimental for the indigenous peoples and small producers of the Province of Chaco.

Keywords : Chaco; Water; Land; Policies.
