This work articulates analytically and critically different violent processes at the Chaco Salteño with the celebrations of the Arete Guasu and the chané masks through a cartographic exercise. From an ethnographic work in Campo Durán and Tuyunti, I recover some local memories that account for the way in which performances practices have had relevance in the reproduction of life -material, symbolic, affective- of communities in historical-political contexts marked by experiences of marginalization and stigmatization, and in multiscalar geographies of power.

Considering the Chaco Salteño as a border geography, I propose the construction of a map to spatialize the memories surveyed, recognize the political-affective constellations involved, and to understand how the historical and daily dimensions of violence have their aesthetic-political expression in the production of masks, in the carnival parades, and in the Arete Guasu celebrations. These local practices can be understood as an affecting materiality that condenses the processes accumulated in the territory and mobilizes and collectively resignifies the lived experiences according to specific ways of thinking-doing-desiring their own existence in those geographies.
