Abstract

SALOMON, Alejandra. Local roads to imitate. Foreign experiences and knowledge as a model for road projects, 1950-1970. Folia [online]. 2023, n.47, pp.57-78. ISSN 0325-8238.  http://dx.doi.org/10.30972/fhn.0475929.

Between the mid-1950s and 1970s, a confluence of changes in Argentina prompted a more defined and systematic public action on local roads, which became a socially problematized issue. Which were the international references and topics that served as support to promote the initiatives aimed at solving their financing and passability problems? The incorporation of the transnational dimension makes it possible to recover experiences and knowledge that circulated among local technicians to improve the state of a network that posed enormous challenges due to its extension, socio-economic relevance and development of automotive transport. With official sources, technical reports, presentations and press, we will demonstrate the emergence of an incipient -but marginal- niche of spaces and ideas to design and debate solutions for the specific challenges of local roads.

Keywords : local roads; experts; transnational history; knowledge..
