Abstract

VOGLINO, Damián et al. Abordaje participativo de la conservación: un modelo con integración social y gestión vincular. Mastozool. neotrop. [online]. 2017, vol.24, n.1, pp.16-30. ISSN 0327-9383.

We present a methodology for the development of conservation projects, carried out in east-central Argentina (one of the most populated regions of the country), which promotes social integration and local management. A traditional way of initiating and sustaining conservation actions is through a direct approach, normally executed unilaterally by technical-professional team. In contrast, our projects are executed with an alternative interaction modality that we call a participatory approach. Within a strong network of local actors and the technical-professional team, and from the framework of complexity, we promote the dialogue of all actors involved, with their diversity of knowledge, in order to overcome the traditionally closed organizational logic of knowledge. This methodology implies an alternative process that requires explicit tasks for the solid and deep integration between empirical and disciplinary knowledge. If the process is successful, it will lead to the joint construction of a socio-environmental conservation epistemology that contemplates both ecological and anthropological aspects. That is to say, the process must consider the subjects of conservation, the social actors that will be able to sustain the projects, and their training. Some examples of conservation activities developed, both private and public, are presented.
