Abstract

The speech of the nurse of the vv. 1-45, in Medea 's prologue of Euripides, establishes a indispensable start point for the comprehension of the tragedy. We will try to analyze both parts of the speech in the links that is established between the presentation of the personage of Medea and its relation with the sense of the tragedy, which tries neither to condemn the passion as source of catastrophe, nor to show the victory of the passion on the reflection, with big evil that it transports, but to stand out the original humanity of the personage.
