Abstract

COSTA, Ivana. Creso y Solón en el espejo de la Atlántida platónica. Synthesis (La Plata) [online]. 2007, vol.14, pp.71-89. ISSN 0328-1205.

The influence of Herodotus and his Histories in both accounts of the Platonic Atlantis (in Timaeus and in Critias ) has been largely remarked. However, it has not been specifically pointed out the way in which the story of Croesus in Herodotus (and precisely, the way in which the character of Solon is built) influences Plato's own story of Atlantis. We will follow the character of Solon looking forward to establish new conclusions about the status of the Platonic tale, about its literary genre and about its relation to philosophy and history in Plato.

Keywords : Herodotus; Plato; Atlantis; History; Fiction.
