Philo ofAlexandria (30?B. C.-50? A.D.) is a key figure to understand the deep relationbetween Judaism and Helenism along the I century A. D. A practicing Jew,be-cause of his intense command of Greek language, literature and, above all,Rethoric he was an extraordinary personality in his time, not only for hiscommentaries about the Torah (or Pentateuch) but also for his apologetic,historical and philosophical treatises. His testimony is very important for allstudent of classical Antiquity for the numerous details he offers concerningphilosophy, thought, education and classical tradition in his own days,specially in his native city, extremely important cultural centre inside theRoman empire.
